St. Lucia is known as the "Helen of the West Indies"
Jacqueline has been painting on this exotic island since 1998. She began offering her plein air painting workshops and typically, the students have come to St. Lucia to participate from different parts of the US , Canada and Barbados.
This year a special workshop was offered for St. Lucia Artists and with the help and insight of Finola Prescott, owner of Lucian For Real Gallery in Rodney Bay Mall, artists Alcina Nolley, Mary Weber, Cecil Fevrier, Sonjette Rodrigues, Peggy Jackson, Marie Anne Bergasse and Wendy Bain joined the three day plein air painting workshop.
The first day the workshop was held at the beautiful, historic Great House on the Cap Estate.on the north end of the island.
Day two was spent on Historic Pigeon Island, A National Park.
Participants painted the ruins on the island and the landscape surrounding the museum which provided a wonderful shelter and view to escape the mid day sun and possible shower.
Alcina Nolley captured the light and shadow of the ruins.
Peggy Jackson completed her first acrylic painting .
Sonjette Rodrigues , a fabric artist , worked on some interesting motifs for her fabric designs.
' in memory of a colorful lady '...
Day three was the most exciting! We traveled to Souifrere to one of the highest viewpoints and most spectacular view of the Pitons.
We painted from a villa called 'Twin Peaks' above The resort Anse Chastanet.
Alcina Nolley 's Oil Painting of the great giants shows a very delicate, muted color scheme.
Lunch was at the beautiful Anse Chastanet, where Mary Weber gave us a tour of the st. lucian art at their Art Gallery.
After a quick lunch ( we didn't want to waste time eating when we could be painting) we finished the afternoon with each artist completing at least one painting of the Pitons.

My head and hands are spinning- I want my hand to be light like yours.
Hope I can remember what you have told me for the last 3 days.
I have really enjoyed being around people and all the talent that I have seen. I hope it will wear off on me- you have given me confidence that I can do it!
